Real Patients, Real Results

Dr. Garcia and his staff are wonderful! I am super picky about who works on my teeth. We drive an hour, one way, just to have our dental work done.

Great experience with clear dental aligners. The process was easy, comfortable, and much more convenient than braces. The aligners were nearly invisible and easy to remove for eating and brushing. My teeth look much straighter and I'm very happy with my new smile. Highly recommend!

Susan CieriInvisalign Patient, Orlando

The office is clean, organized. The team truly cares about their patients' comfort and outcomes. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for both general dental care and orthodontic services in one place.

THE SMARTER SMILE

Common Dental Questions — Answered

Bleeding gums are common, but they should not simply be ignored. They can be a sign of gingivitis or more advanced gum disease, especially when the gums are also red, swollen or tender. Plaque buildup around the gumline is a frequent cause. Gentle daily brushing and cleaning between the teeth can help reduce plaque, but persistent bleeding should be evaluated by a dentist. Other factors, including certain medications and health conditions, can also contribute to gum bleeding.

Cold sensitivity can happen for several reasons, including exposed tooth roots, worn enamel, tooth decay, a cracked tooth or a problem with an existing filling or crown. Brief sensitivity is not always an emergency, but pain that lingers after the cold is gone, becomes more intense, or starts occurring without a trigger deserves a dental examination.

Pain when biting can be associated with a cracked tooth, decay, inflammation around the tooth, an infection or a problem with a filling or crown. Because several different problems can cause the same symptom, an examination and sometimes an X-ray are needed to determine the cause. Avoid repeatedly chewing on the painful tooth until it has been evaluated.

Possible signs of a dental infection or abscess include persistent or throbbing tooth pain, swelling of the gums or face, tenderness, a pimple-like bump on the gum, a bad taste or drainage, and sometimes fever. An abscess does not usually resolve permanently on its own. Dental treatment is needed to address the source of the infection. Facial swelling, difficulty swallowing or difficulty breathing should be treated as urgent.

Teeth can appear longer when the gums recede. Gum recession can occur gradually and may be related to gum disease, brushing habits or other factors. If you notice a change in your gumline, especially along with sensitivity, bleeding or loose teeth, have the area evaluated.

Contact a dentist even if the tooth does not hurt. The exposed tooth may be sensitive or vulnerable to additional damage. Avoid chewing hard or sticky foods on that side and keep the area clean. Do not use household glue to reattach a crown. A dentist can determine whether the restoration can be replaced or whether the tooth needs additional treatment.

Severe or rapidly worsening pain, facial or jaw swelling, trauma to a tooth, uncontrolled bleeding, or signs of infection deserve prompt dental attention. Difficulty breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading facial swelling, or other serious symptoms can require emergency medical care rather than waiting for a routine dental appointment.

Repeated food trapping may be related to the shape or spacing of the teeth, gum changes, a damaged filling or crown, or changes in the contact between neighboring teeth. If it happens frequently, especially if the gum becomes sore or bleeds, mention it at your dental visit so the area can be examined.

Yes. Gum disease can develop with little or no pain, particularly in its earlier stages. Warning signs can include bleeding gums, redness, swelling, gum recession, persistent bad breath, loose teeth or changes in the way teeth fit together when you bite. This is one reason regular dental examinations and professional cleanings matter even when nothing hurts.

You can still receive dental care at Save on Dentistry if you do not have dental insurance. The practice offers a membership plan built around providing dental treatment at more reasonable prices, and patients can ask about costs and treatment options before deciding how to proceed. If cost has caused you to delay care, an examination can help identify what needs attention now, what may be able to wait and which treatment options may fit your situation.

If you are looking for affordable dental care in Palm Coast, compare more than just the advertised price. Ask whether the dentist explains treatment costs in advance, accepts patients without insurance, offers different treatment options when appropriate, and can provide both routine and more complex dental care without unnecessary referrals. Save on Dentistry in Palm Coast was created around providing general and specialty dental care at reasonable prices. Patients with or without dental insurance can contact the office to discuss their needs, treatment options and expected costs before deciding how to proceed.

Learn more about the correlations between oral health care and your overall health. You may be surprised at some interesting facts!

Hormonal changes during menopause can reduce saliva flow and change how gum tissue responds to plaque, leading to tenderness, sensitivity and a persistently dry mouth. These changes can also raise the risk of gum disease and tooth decay if left unaddressed.

Bacteria from untreated gum disease can be inhaled into the lungs and has been linked to respiratory infections. Gum disease can also make blood sugar harder to control, while good oral care supports more stable glucose levels for patients managing diabetes.
