Daily Habits
The two minutes that matter: brushing angles and flossing technique most adults were never taught.
Most people brush for less time than they think, and often at the wrong angle. Aim your brush at a 45-degree angle toward the gumline, not straight into the tooth surface — this is where plaque actually collects and where most decay and gum irritation begin.
Flossing technique matters just as much as doing it at all. Curve the floss into a gentle C-shape against each tooth and slide it just beneath the gumline before moving to the next tooth. Snapping the floss straight down between teeth skips the exact area where plaque hides.
Two minutes of brushing, twice a day, plus one thorough flossing session, is enough to meaningfully lower your risk of cavities and gum disease — but only if the technique is right. We're always happy to walk through your technique chairside at your next cleaning.
